I bought some figured, quartersawn 8/4 cherry from West Penn Hardwoods once and they are a joy to deal with. The wood was amazing as well.

Welcome West Penn! You sure do have some excellent stock, and I hope over time you'll offer some instrument-quality wood without minimum orders. Many, if not most, of us have to operate on a very small scale, with limited space and financial resources.

Thanks to all for the hearty welcome! Especially our good ol' boy down in the heart of Virginia! We are happy to become a member and sponsor. We are looking foward to getting to know you all and supplying some fine exotic tonewoods to make some awesome guitars!

To clear up the miscommmunication on the minimum order...we just don't want to cut up big boards for small order. We are definitely willing to sell one board if that works for you. We will sell you the smallest piece we have that is closest to your requirement. We also sell sets and are starting to cut some billets too.

I will start posting pics of some interesting pieces when they come up. Also I am starting a blog which will include topics like Rocky's travel adventures and customer projects. If you would like to be the subject of one of my blogs, let me know. I would prefer it if you have used our wood in your project

Anyway, thanks again and keep me in the loop...

Hi Lance, Thanks for the welcome. We are already seeing a response! I am unclear on a coupl of things and don't want to do anything wrong. I was trying to upload a picture of a nice piece of waterfall bubinga but it wouldn't load. It was only 35Kb so I don't think that was the problem...? Also wanted to check on the policy for promoting our products. I know I probably can't go on there and specifically sell sets, but can I answer people's specific questions on the forum if it relates to something I have for sale? Also is it ok to direct members to our website? I think you probably know what I mean, so let me know what my limitations should be...thanks, Kim - West Penn Hardwoods

Kim,

Thanks for the clarification about your minimum order policy.

The picture-posting problem is the result of a hacking that occured a few weeks ago. It apparently destroyed some code, and has so far stumped efforts to fix it. You can post pictures by linking them to your website. Someone who's done it could perhaps explain how.

Kim:

A few questions about your operation please.

1) Are you or Rocky guitar builders? If so, we'd love to see some of your work.

2) While I realize that most of your business is targeted toward non-instrument applications such as furniture, cabinet making, etc., how is instrument grade wood treated/ handled differently.

3) Are you primarily selling billets for those who do their own re-sawing or are you planning to sell sets, FB and Bridge blanks, etc. similar to what other vendors are doing? Some of the menu items on your website are empty and was just curious.

Thanks
